Roanwell Corporation is a leading designer and audio manufacturer of acoustic headsets, handsets, microphones, earphones cords, cables and accessories for military and commercial applications. The company has been in existence since 1948, designing and developing high quality acoustic products to meet the ever changing needs of the modern communications landscape.
Advanced Acoustic Developments
During this time we have pioneered many of the advanced developments that were made in the vital areas of noise attenuation, intelligibility, mobility and user comfort, registering over 30 patents and bringing over 2000 designs to market.
Among these achievements was the first application of noise-cancelling technology, a breakthrough that improved the clarity of voice communication by eliminating the detection of unwanted ambient noise. Over the years our products have continued to set the pace for an impressive range of requirements in a wide range of demanding land, sea and airborne environments.
Meanwhile, our standards for dependable performance, ruggedness and durability have proven themselves beyond the most demanding requirements. And, as events continue to define the landscape of the industry, our engineers are already setting the groundwork for a new generation of products that will benchmark the next frontier in flexible communications.

Roanwell acoustic products are designed and developed in a self contained manufacturing environment staffed with professionally trained engineers and technicians whose experience embraces a wide range of military and commercial applications.
Our facility contains all of the manufacturing and test equipment that is required to meet government specifications in terms of materials testing, fabrication and component assembly.
As a result, we are able to offer our customers the luxury of single source manufacturing, removing the uncertainty that accompanies reliance on outside vendors for timely delivery. Furthermore, we are a HubZone Certified supplier and our official ratings for quality and reliability are among the industry’s highest.

Roanwell’s History
1948
Roanwell Corporation was founded in 1948 when Richard Howell and James Roantree acquired a sheet metal business in Brooklyn, New York which also purchased, refurbished and sold surplus military headsets. Roanwell soon became an active bidder for military contracts and a major supplier of H-157 headsets to the U.S. Air Force.
1950 - 1962
Roanwell experienced significant growth and profitability in the late 1950’s and early 1960’s when the U.S. government increased military expenditures in response to Russia’s launching Sputnik.
1962
In 1962, Roanwell went public.
Late 1960's
In the late 1960’s, Roanwell continued its growth, in part through acquisitions. Roanwell’s voice communications division shifted its strategy away from the military market toward the commercial market.
1968
Beginning in 1968, Roanwell hired a number of prominent engineers and managers from large companies to develop commercial applications for its products and achieve rapid growth.
1970s - 1980s
Roanwell resumed its military orientation thru the 1970’s and 1980’s, redesigning its products. Donald Powers, who had been Roanwell’s chief engineer and who had purchased James Roantree’s interest in the company prior to its initial offering, returned from semi-retirement and replaced Richard Howell as President. The company concentrated on producing for the military market during this time period.
2009
In March 2009, Barbara and Jonathan LaBarre purchased Roanwell Corporation and began the journey of revitalizing the brand, adding significant focus on R&D, lean manufacturing and implementing the AS9100 quality management system.
2010
On September 30, 2010 Roanwell completed the acquisition of Paramount Cords & Brackets, Inc. Roanwell is currently working to build a diversified manufacturing company through both organic and acquisition growth initiatives that will both complement and diversify its existing business.
2018
Roanwell completed the acquisition of The Emergency Beacon Company. Emergency Beacon Corporation is devoted to the design, manufacture, sales and repair of avionics used in search and rescue who specializes in Emergency Locator Transmitters (ELTs)
2022
Roanwell announces business expansion and relocation to 461 Timpson Place, Bronx NY 10455. The new facility offers Roanwell the opportunity to better serve our customers, work with our valuable business partners and provides a great space for our employees to work in.
